OSA Reunion 2008
17/09/2007
Annwyl Aelod/Dear Member
I am writing to a number of members and friends of the Association who have attended the Annual Reunion during the past two years. The two reasons for this letter are firstly, to give you some information and secondly, to ask for your assistance.
At its meeting in July, the General Committee decided that for the year 2008, there would be a break with the tradition of holding the Reunion in Aber and instead, this event will be based at the Novotel in Cardiff Bay. It is hoped that the combination of comfortable hotel accommodation and an interesting programme which takes advantage of people and places in our capital city will attract not only those of you who are loyal ‘Reunionists’, but also some new faces. The dates for your diary are: FRIDAY APRIL 4 – SUNDAY APRIL 6. Please note, this is not the Easter weekend.
The rates we have secured with Novotel are:
Friday 4 April: Dinner B&B - Double/Twin Room £145.00; Single £110.
Saturday 5 April: B&B - Double £95; Single £85
Saturday night 3-course Annual Dinner: circa £28, excluding wine.
One child under 16, or two under 12, may share adults’ bedroom free.
A detailed programme is now being prepared and this, together with relevant information about making reservations, will appear as usual in the Annual in January 2008. However, by September 28th, the OSA must agree with Novotel the number of bedrooms to be held on behalf of the Association on both the Friday and Saturday nights. It would be most helpful if we could judge the likely demand for accommodation by some more accurate method than mere guesswork and faith!
For that reason, I’d be grateful if you could (i) let me know if you intend to be a resident participant at the 2008 Reunion and (ii) specify whether you intend to stay for one night or two and give the number of rooms you would require. I emphasise that this is to help us determine how many rooms to reserve with Novotel in our initial agreement with the hotel - you are not actually booking your accommodation at this stage.
Please contact me at home, (details above), or via the OSA Office, telephone: 01970 628651;
e-mail: osaadmin@aber.ac.uk by Wednesday 26th September.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yn gywir / Sincerely
Rhiannon Steeds
Honorary Secretary
