Aber old boy Rahmat Mohamad is Secretary General of Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO)




This is to announce and congratulate H.E. Prof Dr Rahmat Mohamad (Aber 2000) for his appointment as Secretary General of AALCO.

You can read his glowing resume at www.aalco.int. In a nutshell, Prof Rahmat was Deputy Vice Chancellor of UiTM and ofcourse read his Phd at Aber, class of 2000. His thesis then was 'Dispute Settlement Mechanism in the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA). He is currently based in India.

His address at the UN Headquarters in New York last 24th October 2008 was quite interesting where he touched on the International Criminal Court. Interestingly amongst various issues he covered, he raised for consideration, the Deportation of Palestinians and other Israeli Practices among them the Massive Immigration and Settlement of Jews in all Occupied Territories in Violation of International Law particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.
