Aberystwyth University

From October 1st, 2007 The University
of Wales, Aberystwyth has been
known as Aberystwyth University.

Professor Noel Lloyd, Vice-Chancellor said:

“The name change signifies a hugely important milestone in the University’s distinguished history from its foundation in 1872. It demonstrates our ambition and our commitment to continuing to provide a high quality experience for students and staff. This quality is reflected in the fact that Aberystwyth has registered the highest score in the UK for student satisfaction in the Times Good University Guide 2008. Aberystwyth was also voted the best university town in Britain!”.

Generations of Malaysian students have studied at what has always been
affectionately known as ‘Aber’. As part of a continuing link between Malaysia and Wales a week long programme of activities has been organised by Kelab Alumni University of Wales, Aberystwyth Di Malaysia. These will include:

27th November:
Lecture at the Bar Council by Professor Chris Harding
‘Regulating International Business Activities: Getting
Tough with Business Cartels’.

28th November:
Luncheon talk by UKM Pro Chancellor YAM Tunku
Naquiyuddin ibni Tuanku Jaafar (Aber 1969).

IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan (Aber 1982) Dinner Talk, PJ Hilton

29th November:
Visit to Putrajaya & Luncheon Talk by Commissioner of Malaysian
Communications & Multimedia Commissions, Mr Sharil
Tarmizi (Aber 1992) “Multimedia Laws & Challenges”, at
Putrajaya Lake Club

Dinner buffet with Petronas Aber graduates and dinner
dialogue at Malaysian Petroleum Club with Managing
Director of Kuwait Finance House, Datuk Salman Younis,
“Legal Challenges in Islamic Finance”.

Bangi, “Aberystwyth University in British Higher Education”.
